چکیده

This paper newly considers the ZMP(Zero Moment Point) of a humanoid robot under arm/leg coordination. By considering the infinitesimal displacement and the moment acting on the convex hull of the supporting points, we show that our method for determining the region of ZMP can be applicable to several cases of the arm/leg coordination tasks. We first express two kinds of ZMPs for such coordination tasks, i.e., the conventional ZMP, and the “Generalized Zero Moment Point (GZMP)” which is a generalization of the ZMP to the arm/leg coordination tasks. By projecting the edges of the convex hull of the supporting points onto the floor, we show that the position and the region of the GZMP for keeping the dynamical balance can be uniquely obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by simulation results(see video).

Effect of swim speed on leg-to-arm coordination in unilateral arm amputee front crawl swimmers.

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of swimming speed on leg-to-arm coordination in competitive unilateral arm amputee front crawl swimmers. Thirteen well-trained swimmers were videotaped underwater during three 25-m front crawl trials (400 m, 100 m and 50 m pace). The number, duration and timing of leg kicks in relation to arm stroke phases were identified by video analysis. Within...

Effect of expertise on butterfly stroke coordination.

The aim of this study was to compare the arm-to-leg coordination in the butterfly stroke of three groups of male swimmers of varying skill (10 elite, 10 non-elite, and 10 young swimmers) at four race paces (400-m, 200-m, 100-m, and 50-m paces). Using qualitative video analysis and a hip velocity-video system (50 Hz), key events of the arm and leg movement cycles were defined and four-point esti...

ZMP trajectory generation for reduced trunk motions of biped robots

Trunk motions are typically used to stabilize the locomotion of biped robots, which can be very large in some leg trajectories. This paper proposes a method to reduce the motion range of the trunk by generating a desired trajectory of the ZMP. The trajectory is determined by a fuzzy logic based upon the leg trajectories that are arbitrary selected. The resulting ZMP trajectory is similar to hum...

Is Abdominal Muscle Activity Different from Lumbar Muscle Activity during Four-Point Kneeling?

Background: Stabilization exercises can improve the performance of trunk and back muscles, which are effective in the prevention and treatment of low back pain. The four-point kneeling exercise is one of the most common types of stabilization exercises. This quasi-experimental study aimed to evaluate and compare the level of activation between abdominal and lumbar muscles in the different stage...

Training and Testing

■■■■ This study analyzes stroke phases and arm and leg coordination during front crawl swimming as a function of swim velocity and performance level. Forty-three swimmers constituted three groups based on performance level. All swam at three different swim velocities, corresponding to the paces appropriate for the 800 m, 100 m, and 50 m. The different stroke phases and the arm and leg coordinat...
